Four words you'll see in every conversation
TRC
A TRC is the permission to stay in Poland temporarily for a specific purpose, such as studies or work. The legal basis matters because it decides which documents and MOS path you need.
Decides which documents you need (e.g., Annex 1 for work, Annex 5 for studies).
Usually granted for up to 3 years, depending on your purpose and contract.
The Process
From "I should apply" to card in hand
Seven steps. Linear, but not always quick — the office controls the pace once you submit.
Choose basis
Determine if you apply for work, studies, or family. This foundation dictates your entire document list.
Prep documents
Gather passport scans, biometric photos, and fee proof. Digital-first preparation saves weeks of time.
Draft in MOS
Complete your application on the official MOS portal. Coordinate with employer/university for digital signatures.
Submit & UPO
Send the application and download your UPO. This is your only legal proof of timely submission.
Office visit
Attend required office steps, such as showing original documents or giving fingerprints, when the voivode asks.
Await decision
Wait for the decision and respond to official letters (Wezwanie) on time outside MOS when the office tells you to.
Collect card
Collect your residence card (Karta Pobytu) after approval and card production.
